About The Author

My name is Antônio Henrique Seligman, born in 1964, bachelor in Physics (just like Brian May!) and currently working as a Master System Analyst at an engineering company.

Below is a Chronology of my Queen-related activities (simultaneous to collecting):

bullet1977 - Began collecting Queen.

bulletMarch 1981 - Saw Queen live for the first time at the Morumbi Stadium.

bullet1984 - Founded Queenland as an unnoficial Fan Club with my friend "Trinti".

bulletJuly 26, 1984 - First Queenland event: Celebrating Roger Taylor's birthday, a meeting called "Queen Live Story" was held at "Casa do Politécnico", a subdivision of Universidade de São Paulo, where I was studying at the time.I was interviewed by Manchete and 97 FM radio stations, and even appeared on a TV  program at Gazeta TV to promote the event (If you have a copy of this on video please let me know, I would like to have a copy!).About 150 brazilian Queen fans attended this event - not bad for a thursday evening! Liane (soon to be my girfriend) saw the advert on the TV and attended ;-)

bulletDecember 15, 1984 - Second Queenland event: As the Rock In Rio festival was approaching, we felt the need to do a "warm-up" meeting, so we did Live Story II at a place called Sesc Pompéia in collaboration with a fan club called "White Heron".Four hours of rare Queen videos on a big screen - with free entrance - was not bad for these days!

bulletJanuary 1985: Me and Liane attended both Rock In Rio concerts. The night after the first concert we saw Roger briefly in front of their Hotel. Together with various other fans, we wrote "QUEEN" with candles on the beach, and to our surprise Brian saw the candles from the hotel and joined us (!!!), as can be seen during the operatic section of Bohemian Rhapsody on the "Live In Rio" video.I gave Brian copies of the pictures from the previous years meetings... and got some autographs in return ;-)

bulletJune 1985: Produced a 3 hour Queen special full of rarities for 97 FM, repeated a week later - live - by popular demand.

bullet1988-1990 Queenland joined forces to Queen Flash Club and became officially approved by the band (the address of the "Flash Club" joint venture was even printed on the insert of the brazilian "The Miracle" LP).

bulletSeptember 25, 1988 - Me and Liane produced and co-presented (with 89 FM presentor Everson) a 90 min Queen special on 89 FM, again full of rarities of course.

bulletJuly 8, 1989 - Me and Liane got married. Jacky wrote a note on the Official Fan Club Magazine (Autumn 1989 issue) about how we met thru Queen.

bulletEarly 1991 - Attended the very first rehearsals of the brazilian Band "Queen Cover", then of course most of their concerts since their very first gig.

bulletNovember 9, 1992 - Me, Liane and William Nilsen (founder of the first ever brazilian Queen fan club back in 1977) flew to Rio to see Brian May in concert at the Imperator Hall.

We got backstage passes to that gig, and have meet the whole Brian May band.  including the late Cozy Powell and Josh McCrae, which was working as drum technician for Brian.Brian also came briefly to meet the fans and retired shortly to his dressing room, probably a bit tired after the show. I had with me a diskette containing the lists which some four years later would be featured on this website, and I asked Mr. Beach to give it to Brian, but he was so impressed when I described our research that invited us to enter Brian's dressing room to hand the diskette to him personally!
Imagine my face - speechless!
In the end, we spent some 15-20 minutes there - only me, Liane, Jim Beach and Brian - talking about my database and research, and of course getting some autographs ;-)

bulletMarch 26, 1993 - Me and Liane were interviewed on Jovem Pan 2 FM to talk about the Rolling Stones (no, just kidding).

bullet1994 - Liane got a Queen Tattoo on her upper back!

bulletNovember 27, 1994 - The Keep Freddie Alive convention. This one deserves its own page, please check it out.

bullet1995 - A local newspaper did a report about our collection.
