2469 Squadron ATC has been parading in the St Thomas district of Exeter for over 40 years, and throughout all this time the squadron, and the Corps itself, has changed and evolved to keep its place in the local community and to maintain its appeal to the local teenagers. It is our aim to develop the character and personality of cadets, and to imbue them with a sense of self-discipline and a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards the community. We are also committed to offering organisational and leadership experience and proven team-working skills, all of which will benefit the cadet throughout their entire life. Air Cadets, aged 13 to 18 and their supporting staff get the opportunity to participate in a large range of stimulating and rewarding activities. Where else could you learn to fly aerobatics, visit Royal Air Force Stations, tour foreign countries, play sports from local to International level, gain your Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, as well as a BTEC in Public Service. These and much more are readily available to you as a member of the Air Cadet Organization, whether you are a cadet or staff member. As you explore our web site you will be able to discover much more about both the ATC and 2469 Squadron, and how you could be a part of the Air Cadet Organisation - whether as a cadet, a staff member or one of our civilian supporters. |
Due to the redevelopment of West Exe Technology College, 2469 Squadron had to vacate its premises after more than 25 years !
After more than 4 years of sharing rooms with the City of Exeter St John's Ambulance Brigade on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate, we have at last got our own permanent Headquarters on Cowick Barton Playing Fields, St Thomas, at the junction of Old Vicarage Road and Ferndale Road.
(Check this link for a map).
We parade on Monday and Thursday evenings from 19:00 until 21:30 hrs. and the squadron provides training, experience and opportunities that most young people would not normally find elsewhere; we are also fully involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and the BTEC First Diploma qualification in Public Service.
Matthew Dunn
Flt. Lt. RAFVR(T)
Officer Commanding
2469 (Exeter St Thomas) Squadron
