Commandant's Certificate for Merit
In 1999, Mrs M Heath, the Squadron Civilian Trustees Treasurer, together with her son, Civilian Instructor Mr Andrew Heath, were both awarded the Commandant's Certificate for Merit.
Andrew has been with the squadron for over 30 years, joining as a cadet in 1967. At the end of his cadet service he transferred to Adult Warrant Officer, a post he held until 1989 when he left the uniform side of the squadron to become a civilian instructor.
Mrs Heath has always helped and supported the squadron since her son first joined the Corps. She became the Civilian Treasurer in 1984, a position she has held until the year 2000. Even though over 85 years old and needing a stick to help keep her mobile, she was still a very active member of the Trustees Committee up until her death in 2007.
The presentation of the two Certificate's of Merit was made by the Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Roy Hill, at a ceremony held in the Cowick Barton Inn, Exeter. Staff and cadets from the squadron attended, as did the Officer Commanding Devon and Somerset Wing, together with members of the wing staff.
Also in attendance to see this well deserved presentation were many ex-cadets, ex-staff and civilian committee members.
