& Scholarships
St. Anne’s gives nearly £100,000 a year to its MCR. The vast majority of this is in the form of Scholarships which are outlined here.
Graduate Research Scholarships are one off payments to supplement other income. Graduate Development Scholarships are more substantial scholarships involving your taking on some teaching and other college responsibilities. Travel Grants provide St Anne's students with financial support for academic travel. These are particularly useful for attending conferences which are an integral part of a well rounded research career. See here for more information about these scholarships and more importantly how to apply.
Each student needs to have a financial guarantee before they commence study as a postgraduate, usually in the form of a letter from your research funding body or department confirming that you have adequate financial support for the duration of your research. It is therefore rare for postgraduates to have many personal financial problems. As a result there is no set process for Hardship Grant eligibility. In the event of unforeseen changes in circumstances and emergencies, college may be able to offer support in conjunction with other university hardship grants on the condition that all other avenues have been tried in order to improve your position. Contact the Treasury for more information. An application will involve a summary of income and expenditure and explanation of the circumstances and measures taken to improve the position.
