What is Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an exercise system that incorporates both body and mind.

It is not a religion and has the same roots as yoga.

Tai Chi is universal and is based on the principles of nature, it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Classes cater for casual participants through to those wanting to take it to competition level.

The aim of Tai Chi is to create a longer happier healthier life. Some of the many benefits of  Tai Chi are; increased muscle tone and bone density, flexibility and vitality, it helps you to be more focused and improves the memory and can assist in sleep and blood pressure problems.

There are two main types of Tai Chi;

1 - Tai Chi Qigong

Commonly known as Qigong (chee gong) translates as Grand Ultimate Energy Cultivation and is primarily an exercise and self healing art form combining stretching, movement and meditation. Qigong is often referred to as Chinese Yoga or Taoist Yoga.

 

2 - Tai Chi Chuan

Translates as Grand Ultimate Boxing which combines Qigong and Kung Fu and is taught as an exercise, meditation and martial art.
