The water contains carp,
including crucians and grass carp, roach, rudd, bream, tench, perch,
and eels. Many fish have been stocked over the years, with a number of
fast growing carp up to 15lb the most recent to go in. Carp have been
caught up to 24lb in recent years, with at least eight different twenty
pound fish caught. There are also rumours of a number of catfish of
various sizes having been illegally stocked from a garden pond!
Pleasure anglers are ensured great sport with the hordes of rudd and
roach which feed heavily in the summer months and make up bags of up to
20lb+, but all sport slows down after a couple of frosts due to the
ponds clay base. The only baits banned are bloodworms and peanuts. Club
members are able to use up to three rods subject to club rules, while
day ticket anglers are only allowed one rod per ticket up to a maximum
of two tickets per angler. The club has formed a syndicate on the water
to control night fishing, and only syndicate members are allowed to
fish at night on the water. There is also a day syndicate which has
daytime access from monday to friday. A power line running over part of
the pond should be avoided, particularly when casting out
baits. also watch out for terrapins!!! Plans to stock the pond with
tench and bream are currently being discussed.
